The pitch is questionable. The referee has his price. And your transfer budget is rattling around in somebody else’s mouth.

Charge a shot, bend it after the boot, or send a teammate through with a well-timed pass. Then brace for the return tackle. Studs Up! is top-down arcade football with a vicious streak.

Take The Mincers through a ten-match season, or jump straight into Quick Match. There’s always another club to beat. Preferably on the scoreboard.

03 / Club matters

Win on Saturday. Patch up on Sunday.

Build a club.
Break the league.

Football is only half the job. Between fixtures, the pub office is where you turn a collection of walking liabilities into a team worth backing.

  1. A proper game of football.

    Charged passes, shots, lobs and aftertouch. Sprint into space, switch players and work an opening. Goals still decide the result.

  2. A less proper game of football.

    Tackles knock teeth loose. Bottles, bricks and firearms make matters worse. The referee only punishes what he sees, so keep an eye on him.

  3. Look after your lot.

    Recruit a seven-player squad, manage the bench and get the injured treated. Health carries between fixtures. Dead players stay dead.

  4. Spend somebody else’s teeth.

    Buy 30 upgrades across football, violence, medical, crowd and corruption. Court sponsors or pay the referee a little attention.

  5. Know your away grounds.

    A muddy pub yard, hard municipal concrete, and suspiciously pristine turf. Different surfaces, different referees, same bad intentions.

  6. Mind the crowd.

    Restless fans throw more than insults. Bottles rain down, tempers rise, and pitch invaders can turn a bad afternoon into a full-blown incident.
